After Dr. Cox and Turk convince J.D. of the importance of seeing the baby's first ultrasound, he decides to go on a road trip to Washington. J.D., Carla, Elliot, Keith, Ted and the Janitor take a ride in Dr. Kelso's new RV. Meanwhile, Dr. Cox and Jordan get some unexpected news about her pregnancy.

Quote from Elliot

J.D.: You guys, there's the hospital.
Elliot: Keith, wake up, sweetie, we're here.
Keith: Yes! [horn honks] I don't even see a truck!

Quote from Kim

J.D.: [v.o.] Sometimes you find amoment that knocks you on your ass.
J.D.: How's our baby doing, eh?
Kim: J.D., I had a miscarriage.

Quote from Turk

Turk: Hey! So everything went great. Yeah, Jordan and the baby are fine.
Dr. Cox: Fair enough.
Turk: That... That's it?
Dr. Cox: Yep.
Turk: Okay, I don't know about you but when I get great news, I like to show some form of emotion. Like when I graduated Med School, I went all Billie "White Shoes" Johnson. All over like "Hmmm". And then, when Izzy was born, Tiger Woods arm swing. [horn honks]
Dr. Cox: Look, you know as well as I do, that no kid who had surgery before it's even born, is just gonna pop out into the world without any... without any problems. In three months, it's gonna outgrow that shunt and we're gonna have to go through this whole thing all over again, so you're gonna have to excuse me if I'm not celebrating.
Turk: The baby's gonna be fine.
Dr. Cox: And just how can you be so sure of that?
Turk: Because that little thing grabbed my finger so tight, and wouldn't let go. Perry, she's strong.
Dr. Cox: She?
Turk: Yeah, Daddy.

Quote from J.D.

J.D.: [v.o.] We sat there all night and talked about everything. How we felt about each other, whether we could handle a long-distance relationship, whether she could ever see herself coming back to Sacred Heart, would a pizza place deliver to a bench at 3 in the morning. They would. And, at the end of it all, we both realized that without a baby in the picture, the best thing to do was to say goodbye, stay friends and just hope that our paths cross again. Someday.

Quote from J.D.

J.D.: So then I took a $900 cab ride home, and voila', here I am.
Elliot: Oh, J.D., that sucks. I'm so sorry.
Mr. Mariani: Bummer! Now why am I back in here again?
J.D.: 'cause I couldn't wait to rub a little jelly on your treaty trail. No, I have to see if your kidney stones has dissolved yet. [writes name in gel] J.D. I always do that.
Elliot: So do I.

Quote from Kim

J.D.: [v.o.] And I could never mad at Kim for giving me a bad surprise.
[After the camera pans in on J.D.'s patient's ultrasound, it pans out an ultrasound in Washington:]
Doctor: Everything looks healthy. See? Here's your baby's heartbeat.
Kim: Wow.
J.D.: [v.o.] Because at least she was straight to me.

Quote from Ted

Ted: [to old woman] You smell like my mom, [growls]!

Quote from Kim

Kim: I should have told you earlier. I, just, I didn't wanna do that on the phone, and... You OK?
J.D.: Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just kinda weird. There was this thing. That I never met. And now it's gone, I kinda miss it.
Kim: I know.
J.D.: And I was already kind of looking forward to doing all those parent things you hear about. You know, like, changing diapers, first steps, playing catch. Turk was even going to teach me how to throw like a guy, so...
Kim: Unless it was a girl, then you could just throw like yourself. Can I ask you something? Were we just staying together 'cause we were having a kid?
J.D.: No. No, come on. Come back from this in a couple of months and we're gonna pick right where we left off.
I mean, I guess it'll be a little more casual. We probably shouldn't talk, though, unless we're wearing full body condoms.
Kim: What if I wasn't coming back because they offered me a permanent position here?
J.D.: Did they?
Kim: Yeah.
