With Axl out on a date, Brick having his first sleep over and Sue at her first boy/girl party, Frankie and Mike look forward to spending Valentine's Day together alone for the first time in sixteen years.

Quote from Mike

Mike: Uh-oh. Is it Valentine's Day? I owe you flowers.
Frankie: Yeah. Relax, it's not till Saturday. Oh, help. Brick forgot he had to bring valentines to his social group tomorrow.
Mike: The Odd Squad celebrating Valentine's Day, huh? That ought to be fun.
Frankie: Mike.

Quote from Sue

Sue: Notice anything different about Carly?
All: Uh...
Sue: Yeah. She got her braces off.
Mike: Oh, yeah, now that you mention it. Wow. Yeah, I thought something was different.
Sue: She is so lucky, isn't she? She got a glow-in-the-dark retainer and everything.
Carly: We're gonna go see if it works.

Quote from Axl

Frankie: Whoa.
Axl: Yeah. A hot girl still thinks she's a geek. Some 13-year-old boy is going to be very lucky.

Quote from Frankie

Beth: I want you to know Zack has been having so much fun with Brick.
Frankie: Really? Brick? Brick Heck?
Beth: Oh, yeah, he talks about him all the time. The thing is, he was wondering if Brick would like to have a sleepover at our house this weekend?
Frankie: A sleepover?
Frankie: [v.o.] Don't cry. Do not cry.
Frankie: [mouths] Yes.

Quote from Mike

Mike: Happy Valentine's Day.
Frankie: A squirrel ate half a bird and left it on the patio.
Mike: I'll chuck it in the neighbors' yard later.

Quote from Mike

Sue: Hello, everybody.
Mike: What's with the eyes? You in a play or something?
Sue: I have plans with Carly tonight, remember? Besides, I wear makeup. I wear makeup all the time.
Mike: I don't think so. I think I would have remembered the look.
Frankie: Okay, can you just...? [nudges Mike away]

Quote from Mike

Frankie: You were invited to a boy-girl party?
Sue: Uh-huh. By an eighth grader. He asked Carly to come, and she asked if she could bring a friend, and the guy said yes.
Mike: [o.s.] No boy-girl parties.
Sue: Mom, that is totally unfair. We're, like, the only two people in the class that haven't been to one yet. And then all of a sudden Carly got invited, and now this is our chance. Please, Mom, please.
Frankie: I didn't say that you couldn't. But your dad and I have to discuss it.
Mike: No boy-girl parties. End of discussion.
Sue: Axl was going to boy-girl parties when he was 12.
Mike: Yeah, well, we were bad parents then. We've learned from our mistakes.
Sue: I am growing up. Why can't you trust that the values you've instilled are strong enough to keep me from making bad decisions?
Frankie: Mike, she's in junior high now. She's ready.
Mike: But I'm not.
Frankie: Oh. [Mike nods his approval] [Sue squeals]

Quote from Frankie

Frankie: [v.o.] And I guess Brick was growing up too, and I wasn't leaving anything to chance.
Frankie: Okay, you got a book, backup book, an extra book, a reading flashlight, another book, and one more book.
Beth: [laughs] Found him.
Frankie: Ah.
Zack: [meows]
Beth: He's so excited. Zack, talk like a person.
Frankie: So is Brick. Brick, put down the book.
Beth: I just really hope this works.
Frankie: Me too. [both chuckle nervously] Me too.

Quote from Frankie

Frankie: [v.o.] Axl did us a favor. This opportunity was too rare to waste at home. We were going out for Valentine's Day to our favorite romantic restaurant. It was dark, it was cozy, it was...
Frankie: A Relax The Back store?
Mike: Wow, guess it has been a long time.

Quote from Brick

Zack: [rolls a football to Brick] Meow?
Brick: No, thanks.
Zack: Meow, meow?
Brick: Because I don't like football. Do you have any board games that involve strategy or fantasy role-playing?
Zack: I have a ball with a bell in it.
Brick: How about Crazy Eights?
Zack: Hard to shuffle with paws.
Brick: You can take them off. You're remarkably cat-like even without them.
