‘Everybody Hates Cutting School’

Season 2, Episode 15 -  Aired February 19, 2007

Chris and Greg decide to cut school to see Ghostbusters. Meanwhile, Julius tries to renew his driver's license, and Rochelle volunteers and Drew and Tonya's school.

Quote from Julius

Julius: Please, can't I just give you my money and go?
DMV Clerk: Yeah.
Julius: Thanks.
DMV Clerk: Right after you take your written test.
Julius: I've been driving for over 20 years. I know the rules of the road.
Adult Chris: [v.o.] My father knew the rules of the road, but they were his rules. In a construction zone, you speed up. When pedestrians are entering the crosswalk... speed up. At a railroad crossing, you really speed up.

Quote from Chris

Ms. Morello: Why aren't you in school?
Adult Chris: [v.o.] I wonder if she'd believe it was Chicken George Day.
Chris: Well, we just finished lunch, and we figured we'd get a little popcorn, and now we're on our way back to school.
Ms. Morello: Chris, please, don't insult my intelligence. It's obvious you and Gregory are playing hooky.

Quote from Adult Chris

Adult Chris: [v.o.] When I was 14, it seemed like all I did was work. I worked at school.
Chris: "Four score and seven years ago, our forefathers brought forth from this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal."
Adult Chris: [v.o.] I worked at home. Sometimes I even went sleep-working.

Quote from Chris

Chris: Are they still talking about Ghostbusters?
Greg: Yeah. It's only the biggest movie out this year. I can't believe you haven't seen it.
Chris: Have you seen it?
Greg: No.
Chris: Then what are you talking about?
Greg: I thought you saw everything.
Chris: I kept missing it. Now the only place it's still playing is the dollar theater.
Adult Chris: [v.o.] But popcorn still cost eight bucks.
Chris: And this is the last week.
Greg: Maybe we can catch it on Saturday.
Chris: It leaves Thursday.
Greg: Forget it. We'll have to see it when it comes out on video in four years.
Adult Chris: [v.o.] Back then, that was quick.
Chris: I'm not waiting four years.

Quote from Chris

Rochelle: Chris, when can I come up to your school?
Adult Chris: [v.o.] Not tomorrow.
Chris: Not tomorrow. Nothing's going on, anyway.
Rochelle: I wasn't asking about tomorrow. Just in general.
Chris: I know, I'm just saying that nothing's going on tomorrow.
Rochelle: What, are you embarrassed about me, too?
Chris: No, I'm not embarrassed.
Rochelle: Then what's your problem?
Chris: I don't have a problem.
Rochelle: Then why I can't come up to your school?
Chris: You can come to the school, just not tomorrow.
Rochelle: What's the big deal about tomorrow?
Chris: Nothing. That's what I've been trying to tell you.
Rochelle: That's not what I asked you.
Chris: I know, I just said that tomorrow nothing's going on.
Rochelle: Then why making a federal case out of it?
Chris: I'm not.
Rochelle: You are.
Chris: When you can come up to the school, I'll let you know.
Rochelle: Okay.
Chris: Okay.
Adult Chris: [v.o.] That went well.

Quote from Chris

Greg: The only thing I'm worried about is, what if people miss us?
Chris: Like who? The only person that'll miss you is me. The only person that'll miss me is you.
Adult Chris: [v.o.] Things aren't much different now.

Quote from Chris

Greg: What about when they take attendance?
Chris: Oh, I got Pedro to cover for us.
[flash-forward:]
Teacher: Chris?
Pedro: Aquí.

Quote from Julius

Adult Chris: [v.o.] Meanwhile, my father was there bright and early to beat the line at the DMV. Too late.
Man: Hey, where do you think you're going?
Julius: I'm going to renew my license.
Man: Well, get in line.
Julius: This is the line to renew your driver's license?
Man: No, this is the line for tickets to see Scritti Politti. Yeah, this is the line.
Julius: Man, all these people. I thought I was gonna be out of here in an hour.
Man: [chuckles] Try three.
[A man joins the back of the line before Julius]
Adult Chris: [v.o.] Make that three and a half.

Quote from Rochelle

Mrs. Wilson: Well, Rochelle, all I need you to do is to help the children pick out a book, and then send them to the front to pay for it.
Rochelle: That's it?
Mrs. Wilson: That's it. I have everything else under control.
Adult Chris: [v.o.] No, you don't.
Rochelle: [to herself] I could've stayed at home for this.

Quote from Adult Chris

Adult Chris: [v.o.] My biggest worry at this point was that the cops would think I was chasing Greg.
