‘My Day at the Races’

Season 5, Episode 3 -  Aired January 10, 2006

As J.D. approaches his thirtieth birthday, he feels he's getting nowhere in life. Meanwhile, Turk decides to make a splash by operating on a patient under hypnosis, and Elliot is fed up of her superficial friendship with J.D.

Quote from J.D.

J.D.: [v.o.] A wise man once said the human spirit can overcome any obstacle.
J.D.: I can't.
Elliot: Come on!
J.D.: [v.o.] That man had obviously never run a triathlon.
Elliot: Come on. [straining] You're not really helping!
Carla: Are you sure this is the finish line?
Turk: I think I see him.
J.D.: [v.o.] As for me, I could overcome any obstacle, as long as I had Elliot and her ridiculously strong thighs beneath me.
J.D.: Wahoo-hoo! We made it! And with and with two minutes to spare!
Turk: Baby, I'm not carrying 'em to the car.

Quote from Elliot

Elliot: I need to find someone to split the rent at my place.
Turk: I thought you were getting good money at your fellowship.
[flashback to Elliot at the free clinic talking to a patient with no legs:]
Elliot: So first, my fellowship gets canceled because some jackass cures the disease, and the only job I can get is working at this crappy free clinic for eight bucks an hour. No one's life could be worse than mine.
