‘Jerry's Retirement’

Season 5, Episode 20 -  Aired April 18, 2013

When Jerry announces it's his last day at the Parks Department, Leslie tries to make it meaningful. After Jerry leaves, Tom becomes the butt of the joke in the office. Meanwhile, Ann and Chris awkwardly move forward with their plan to have a baby.

Quote from Donna

Andy: Anybody would be lucky to marry him. Hey, Taylor, do you want to marry me and April?
Taylor Mitsch: Wish I could, man, but I'm not a "marriage" dude. I've got a lot of love to give, and it just seems unfair to put boundaries on it.
Donna: He gets it. [whispering] You so get it.

Quote from Chris

Ann: Oh, hey.
Chris: Hi. Should I keep walking towards you?
Ann: Yeah, I could stop, and you could walk. Or you know what, we could meet in the middle.
Chris: Great plan.
Ann: Hello.
Chris: Hi. [awkward silence]
Ann: Welp.
Chris: Okay.

Jerry & family: Eggs, bacon, and toast Eggs, bacon, and toast Why don't you start your day The Gergich way with Eggs, bacon, and...
Leslie Knope: Toast [cheering]
Jerry: Very good.

Quote from Jerry

Leslie Knope: Jerry, I wanted your last day at work to be special, and I feel like I let you down.
Jerry: No!
Leslie Knope: So I made you this scrapbook with nearly 4 amazing pages jam-packed with memories of your time in the government.
Jerry: Oh, my go-- Well, look.
Gayle: [gasps] Oh, honey. You look great in every one of these. You are still the most handsome man in the world to me.

Quote from Ann

Ann: Okay, I think we should be adults and talk about this.
Chris: I would love to. I was nervous after yesterday because I was thinking what does this mean for us? Not as parents, but as Chris and Ann? I don't think on-again, off-again is a great parental model.
Chris: Well, I completely agree.
Ann: But if there is a hypothetical chance that we could provide a home with two parents who are hypothetically together, then that could be even better hypothetically.
Chris: Of course. We should discuss and consider all the possibilities. The most important thing for me and I think for you is that we have a child. And I don't want to do anything to jeopardize that.
Ann: Do you want to make out?
Chris: I really do.

Quote from Jerry

Leslie Knope: Okay, go over there. Let's meet Mayor Knudson. I'll take your picture.
Jerry: Butterflies. [both laugh] Hello, Mr. Mayor. First of all, I'm so sorry that those Serbian mobsters shoved you out of that helicopter. You deserve better.
