Quote from Adrian Monk

Adrian Monk: So, uh, when did you move in?
Leyla Zlatavich: About a month ago. I love this building.
Adrian Monk: Yeah?
Leyla Zlatavich: Detective Monk, you need to call your wife. She's probably worried.
Adrian Monk: Ah, she knows where I am.
Leyla Zlatavich: How?
Adrian Monk: Because... She's with me all the time.
Leyla Zlatavich: Oh. That explains a lot. That explains everything. How did she-
Adrian Monk: She was killed. Car bomb.
Leyla Zlatavich: Car bombs, I know them well. I am sorry. Adrian, I have to ask you everyone is against me. All the evidence, all the policemen. Why do you believe me?
Adrian Monk: Because you didn't do it.
Leyla Zlatavich: Thank you for that.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Leyla Zlatavich: Tchaikovsky. This is the music that made me want to dance.
Adrian Monk: So whatever happened?
Leyla Zlatavich: I grew out of it. Plus, they burned down the conservatory in my village. I took that as an omen. Oh. Oh, I used to be able to do this... And this. Oh, when did I get so old and stiff? I need a partner.
Adrian Monk: Well, it's a little late, but we could call someone. He'd have to live nearby, I guess.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Leyla Zlatavich: Is something wrong?
Adrian Monk: Do you have anything stronger than steel wool? It's my wedding ring. There's something on it.
Leyla Zlatavich: Adrian, I'm lonely too.
Adrian Monk: Please stop.
Leyla Zlatavich: Stop what?
Adrian Monk: Being you. I have to go. I- I have to go.
Leyla Zlatavich: Adrian, it's all right. I understand. It's all right.
Adrian Monk: So... I'm going. Good-bye.
Leyla Zlatavich: Good-bye.
Adrian Monk: Leyla. And good luck. You know, with the... Am I still here? Why can't I go?

Quote from Adrian Monk

Captain Stottlemeyer: [o.s.] San Francisco police department. Open the door. Ms. Zlatavich, I have a search warrant. Leyla Zlatavich, you are duly served. Monk? Mother of mercy. Well, here's something I never thought I'd say out loud. Monk, where are your pants?
Lieutenant Disher: Monk, you're not supposed to be here.
Adrian Monk: I was just leaving. I was--
Captain Stottlemeyer: Is that your wedding ring?
Adrian Monk: No.
Lieutenant Disher: Wow. Excuse me, but... wow!

Quote from Adrian Monk

Uniform Officer: Captain, is this what you were looking for?
Captain Stottlemeyer: Randy, let me see that hat pin.
Lieutenant Disher: Well, that's a perfect match.
Captain Stottlemeyer: Ms. Zlatavich, what is this design?
Leyla Zlatavich: This is our family crest.
Lieutenant Disher: Would you like to tell us how your family crest got on the murder weapon?
Leyla Zlatavich: That's the murder weapon?
Adrian Monk: Hold on. She can explain this. Leyla...
Leyla Zlatavich: Yes. Yes, yes. I can explain.
Adrian Monk: Go ahead.
Leyla Zlatavich: I did it!
Adrian Monk: Wh- What?
Leyla Zlatavich: I killed the taxi man, just like they said.
Adrian Monk: No! You didn't. No, she didn't.
Leyla Zlatavich: I did.
Adrian Monk: Okay, that's your opinion. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.
Leyla Zlatavich: I killed him. I killed the butcher of Zemenia.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Captain Stottlemeyer: You were in the taxi. What happened then?
Leyla Zlatavich: Like you said. He was driving, there was a red light. I turned around, and I recognized him from the village.
Captain Stottlemeyer: You recognized him.
Leyla Zlatavich: It was Emerik. The butcher. I was sure of it.
Lieutenant Disher: And then what?
Leyla Zlatavich: Like you said, I took out my hat pin. I went crazy, and I stabbed him.
Lieutenant Disher: How many times?
Leyla Zlatavich: Two, three. I don't remember, it was just all like a... What's the word? "Big blur."
[on the other side of the two-way mirror:]
Adrian Monk: She didn't do it.
Natalie: Mr. Monk, she's confessing. Why would anyone confess if they didn't do it?

Quote from Adrian Monk

McKiernan: Oh, hey! No hard feelings, professor?
Sanchez: I guess we learned a lesson here, huh? Sometimes things are exactly what they seem.
Adrian Monk: We'll see.
McKiernan: We'll see? You can't be serious.
Sanchez: Come on, it's over, man. Here's your girlfriend's confession. Read it and weep.
McKiernan: Hey, you wanna save us a trip? We got her personal effects. How 'bout dropping these off downstairs? Thanks.
Sanchez: You'll get 'em next time.
Adrian Monk: "Read it and weep."

Quote from Adrian Monk

Adrian Monk: What was I thinking?
Natalie: You weren't thinking, Mr. Monk. You were feeling. And that's a good thing.
Adrian Monk: The past 14 years, I've been sleepwalking. I wanted to wake up. But I was always afraid to wake up.
Natalie: Until you walked into that refugee center.
Adrian Monk: Don't worry. It won't happen again. I learned my lesson.
Natalie: [off Monk's look] What is it?
Adrian Monk: It's a letter.
Natalie: Who's it from?
Adrian Monk: Her mother.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Adrian Monk: Mrs. Zlatavich.
Mrs. Zlatavich: Policia?
Natalie: No, no, no, no. No, we just want to talk.
Adrian Monk: No, no police. No police. I'm a former police officer. I was given a psychological discharge. Do you understand "discharge"? You don't- Discharge? [checks translation book]

Quote from Adrian Monk

Natalie: Would you like to see your daughter? Would you like to see Leyla?
Mrs. Zlatavich: [speaks emotionally in native language]
Natalie: Look it up.
Adrian Monk: It's okay. I know what she said.
