Lois: Was that Francis? How's he doing?
Hal: Good. He... he, uh... just got a "B" on his history final.
Lois: Good for him. You know, this is the longest he's ever gone without getting into any kind of trouble. Maybe things are finally starting to turn around.

Hal: So, Cynthia, you're in Malcolm's class.
Cynthia: Yeah.
Hal: Huh.

Reese: Malcolm, would you ask your girlfriend if she would like some peas?
Dewey: We get it.

Cynthia: Hey, Malcolm.
Malcolm: I want to sit alone. Yeah, hi.
Cynthia: So, I signed us up as lab partners.
Malcolm: You know, Cynthia, you're spending all your time with me. Maybe it'd be a good thing if you branched out a little bit?
Cynthia: Just seemed like a good idea. We get along so well, I just thought we've got a good thing going.
Malcolm: [to camera] "Thing"?

Lois: What's with all the fish?
Hal: Oh, nothing, I just did something incredibly stupid and shortsighted.
Lois: You going to put those in the freezer?
Hal: Just for tonight. Tomorrow they go in the mail.

Cynthia: Hey, Malcolm. What are you doing after school? We're getting a dog, and I thought you might want to help us pick one out. My mom wants a golden retriever, but I'm leaning more toward a flat-coated retriever... because everyone has goldens, and...
Malcolm: I don't want to be lab partners with you anymore.
Cynthia: What?
Malcolm: I mean, it wasn't my idea. The teacher thought I should partner up with someone else.
Cynthia: Okay.
