Quote from Adrian Monk

Natalie: Judge Rickover, we know the whole story.
Judge Ethan Rickover: Oh, really? Mr. Monk, I taught thousands of students at Berkeley. Some of them were unstable. More than just a few had crushes on me. But please, where's your proof? Where's the child?
Adrian Monk: The baby died.
Judge Ethan Rickover: The baby died. Birth records, paper trails...
Adrian Monk: Gone! It's all gone. You took care of that. You sent Joey Kazarinski to the birthing center last week.
Natalie: They were updating their files. The director must have found something about Trudy, about the baby.
So you had him killed.
Adrian Monk: You've been covering your tracks for 26 years. [two security guards apprehend Monk]
Judge Ethan Rickover: No, it's all right. It's all right. It's all right. Mr. Monk is sick. He's seriously ill. He's obviously not thinking straight.
Adrian Monk: She made a tape, Judge. She made a tape.
Judge Ethan Rickover: Of course she did. The woman was delusional. I remember. Trudy...
Adrian Monk: Ellison.
Judge Ethan Rickover: Ellison, yes, she She follow me around. She wrote me letters. Phone calls at 2, 3 in the morning. I remember that she also claimed she was pregnant. She probably believed it too. She was quite an unstable woman. Apparently you had a lot in common. [Monk attacks Rickover]
Natalie: Mr. Monk! Mr. Monk! No. Mr. Monk. No, Mr. Monk! Stop. Mr. Monk, please!
Adrian Monk: [being carried away] This is not over! This is not over!
Judge Ethan Rickover: Yes, it is.

Quote from Captain Stottlemeyer

Adrian Monk: I can't go home?
Captain Stottlemeyer: Buddy, you're lucky, you're not in jail. You've been charged with assault and threatening a sitting judge.
Adrian Monk: Yeah, some Judge.
Captain Stottlemeyer: We know. We've been digging around. It all checks out.
Lieutenant Disher: Dr. Nash had a second cell phone. He called Rickover half a dozen times. We figure he was trying to blackmail him, Rickover hired Kazarinski to kill him.
Captain Stottlemeyer: Give him- Give him the files.
Lieutenant Disher: I'll just put it there.
Captain Stottlemeyer: You got it. You found him. How does it feel?
Adrian Monk: It's not over. It's not over. Just the air- The air that I'm breathing. I hate the thought that he's breathing the same air.
Captain Stottlemeyer: I know, buddy. Look, we're gonna get him, I promise you. This is me promising you, the son of a bitch is going down.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Adrian Monk: Randy, close the door. Close the door. Leland, listen. I won't be there.
Captain Stottlemeyer: Oh, nonsense. Don't talk like that. Don't give up. Nobody is giving up. The doctor's are working around the clock.
Adrian Monk: Leland, kill him. Promise me.
Captain Stottlemeyer: Yes, alright, I promise. Yes, I'll- I'll do it. There won't a trial.
Adrian Monk: You're lying.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Nurse: What are you doing?
Adrian Monk: There is something, missing here. There's something wrong.
Nurse: I'll tell you what's wrong. You shouldn't be sitting up. Look at you. You're agitating yourself. I'm sure whatever it is can wait.
Adrian Monk: No, not this one. Can't wait. Not this one. This guy killed 3 people.
Nurse: This man? You never can tell, can you?
Adrian Monk: No, he's covering up an affair he had.
Nurse: Is that all? It doesn't seem right. Nobody cares about affairs anymore.
Adrian Monk: That's what I was thinking. There's got to be something else. There has to be more to it.
Nurse: The doctor wants you to sleep tonight. I'm leaving this here. It'll put you right out. Sleep is the best medicine.
Adrian Monk: "He'll never move."
Nurse: Pardon me?
Adrian Monk: That's what they said. I heard them talking. So, why won't he move? What it is about that house?

Quote from Captain Stottlemeyer

Lieutenant Disher: Captain, here you are. I was looking all over for you. You haven't heard?
Captain Stottlemeyer: Heard what?
Lieutenant Disher: There's a cure.
Captain Stottlemeyer: There's a cure?
Lieutenant Disher: Yeah, for Monk, they isolated the poison. It was on his wipes.
Captain Stottlemeyer: Ha, the wipes! That's great news. There's a cure! Come on, I was just on my way to the hospital. We can celebrate.
Lieutenant Disher: He is not there.
Captain Stottlemeyer: Who's not there?
Lieutenant Disher: Monk, he escaped. And he drugged a cop and took his gun.
Captain Stottlemeyer: Okay, come on, let's go, we can take your car.
Lieutenant Disher: Where are we going?
Captain Stottlemeyer: To stop Monk.
Lieutenant Disher: From doing what?
Captain Stottlemeyer: The wrong thing.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Adrian Monk: Keep digging.
First Uniform Cop: Sir, I'm not gonna tell you again. I want you to put the weapon down.
Adrian Monk: No, we're not done yet.
Judge Ethan Rickover: I'm gonna bring up a sore subject here. I don't want you to overreact. But Trudy and I used to talk about capital punishment all the time. She never believed in it.
Adrian Monk: Shut up! Just shut it! You mention her name again, it'll be the last word you ever say.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Molly Evans: What are you doing with all these pictures, anyway?
Adrian Monk: I'm making scrapbooks. I've already filled 4 of them. You want to see them?
Molly Evans: Maybe when I get back.
Adrian Monk: Back from where?
Molly Evans: I have to go to Toronto, the film festival.
Adrian Monk: Oh, yeah, what film festival?
Molly Evans: The Toronto Film Festival.
Adrian Monk: Oh, yeah, right.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Molly Evans: Adrian, you can't quit. What would you do all day?
Adrian Monk: I do not know. This. Hang around with you. I just want watch you grow up.
Molly Evans: I am 26 years old, I'm not a kid.
Adrian Monk: I just want you in my life. You know, I need you in my life.
Molly Evans: I am in your life. I'm not going anywhere. I'm worried about your life. You can't quit. Not for me. There are lots of other Trudys out there. And I think you're obligated to help them. You have a gift.
Adrian Monk: And a curse.
Molly Evans: It's not a curse, it's a gift. Can't you see that? [Monk shrugs] Maybe that's why I'm here, to remind you. [off Monk's look] What?
Adrian Monk: That's exactly what your mother used to say.
Molly Evans: Really? What was she like?
Adrian Monk: Well, she snored.
Molly Evans: [laughs] She did?
Adrian Monk: Yeah. She never believed me. One night, I taped her with a tape recorder. She still didn't believe it. She loved Willie Nelson. When she was thinking, she'd stick out her tongue like this.
Molly Evans: Oh, my God! I do that all the time.
Adrian Monk: I know. I love it when you do that.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Senator: Judge Rickover, I would like to return to one of your earlier decisions. Herrura vs. California. You were the Deputy Solicitor General on that brief, is that correct?
Judge Ethan Rickover: That's correct, Senator. That was a death penalty case,in which we held the prisoner, Mr. Herrura, was entitled only to relieve in the leniency process.
Senator: And is that an opinion you still hold?
Judge Ethan Rickover: To be honest, Senator, I'm not sure. The law has changed, I have changed. I was 28 years old then, thought I knew everything.
Senator: [chuckles] You're aware of course, [Monk coughs] that there are cases pending which had similar circumstances, and some of them involve recent advances in DNA evidence. [Rickover looks back at Monk] Judge Rickover?
Judge Ethan Rickover: Senator, I don't think it's an good idea to re-write the Constitution, just because there's been a scientific break-through. The basic principles of Common Law haven't changed, they never do. The issue is, application, in a new context. [Monk continues coughing]
Senator: And is context always the overriding factor?
Judge Ethan Rickover: Excuse me?
Senator: Uh, is context always the overriding factor? In my opinion, yeah, these are the same basic principles that have animated our Common Law system since the time of John Cook, but, then again, I'm not here to teach you high-school civics, am I?
Senator: [laughs] Actually, I wish you would. I think some of us could certainly use it.
Judge Ethan Rickover: Senator, it's been a long morning. If I- If I might, could I ask for a brief recess?
Senator: I think that's an excellent idea. We can all use some air. Uh, we can reconvene at 10:15.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Nurse: That was easy. 4 days ago, you're a bucking bongo.
Adrian Monk: Four days ago was years ago.
Nurse: I'll be back later with your pills.
