‘Debra's Parents’

Season 9, Episode 7 -  Aired November 22, 2004

When Debra's divorced parents, Warren (Robert Culp) and Lois (Katherine Helmond), visit for Thanksgiving, Ray walks in on them together in bed,

Quote from Ray

Debra: She must've snuck over here. How cute is that?
Ray: It's not cute.
Debra: Listen, you don't understand. You don't understand 'cause your parents are still married.
Ray: I understand that.
Debra: No no, you take it for granted. These are my parents, and it really hurt when they got divorced. That's why this is so great.
Ray: Where are you going?
Debra: To say hi.
Ray: Are you crazy, woman?
Debra: Well, all right, maybe you're right. It might be embarrassing.
Ray: And it'll burn your retinas.

Quote from Ray

Ray: Where are the kids? They in the yard? All right, I'm gonna go see if they're smoking. [opens door]
Lois: Good morning, Raymond.
Ray: Hi, I'm gonna go out and play with the kids.
Lois: You don't have any shoes on.
Ray: No, okay, I don't.
Lois: Well, come have breakfast with us.
Ray: Mmm, okay. But I'm not gonna be hungry for a very long time.

Quote from Ray

Warren: How was everything across the street last night?
Lois: Oh, fine. I had a wonderful sleep. How about you?
Warren: Great. I feel like a new man. These two have a terrific mattress.
Lois: Oh, I'll have to try it out sometime. [notices Ray has his head in his hands] What's the matter, Raymond?
Ray: Oh, nothing, no. I just- I had a bad bad dream last night.

Quote from Debra

Debra: Okay, eggs for Mom, eggs for Dad. Eggs for Mom and Dad.
Warren: Thanks, honey bunny.
Debra: Oh, it sure is good to see you two so hungry again.
Lois: What's that, dear?
Debra: Okay, nothing. Listen, I have to go borrow Marie's roasting pan, so I'll be back in a minute. Everybody behave themselves.

Quote from Ray

Lois: Oh my God, do you think she knows? Raymond?
Ray: I don't know. I don't know anything. Just eat your eggs.
Lois: They know. They heard us.
Warren: I told you to keep it down.
Ray: Okay, all right. Okay, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go but, uh... Don't worry. Everything's fine. Debra just she's happy that you two guys are back together, so Happy Thanksgiving, and if I don't see you, Merry Christmas.

Quote from Lois

Lois: Raymond, wait.
Ray: God.
Lois: I think there's been a misinterpretation.
Warren: Yeah, Ray, we're not getting back together.
Ray: Yeah, but you guys were...
Warren: That doesn't mean we're back together.
Ray: So that was just...
Lois: Sex.
Ray: Aaah.

Quote from Ray

Ray: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Maybe Debra's right. How do you know that what happened last night wasn't the start of you two guys getting back together?
Warren: Well, to tell you the truth, last night wasn't the first time.
Ray: You guys gotta get a Scrabble board.

Quote from Amy

Amy: Sorry, Deb.
Debra: No, listen, you know what? It's great that everybody's together, 'cause that's what Thanksgiving's all about families being together.
Amy: Did you have a drink today already?

Quote from Ray

Debra: No, but you know what? I want to toast my parents at dinner tonight. Where is that bottle of champagne we forgot to give Robert and Amy for their wedding?
Ray: I don't know, but why don't you talk to your parents first? Maybe they're not into being toasted.
Debra: No, no, no, because I want it to be a surprise. Ah, here it is.
Ray: I don't think you should make a big deal out of this.
Debra: Why not?
Ray: Well, all right, listen. Your parents, they're not getting back together.
Debra: What are you talking about? You saw them.
Ray: Yeah, I did, and I still see them every time I blink. But they told me that this was just like a casual rendezvous.
Debra: You mean, they're just...
Ray: A couple of horn dogs.

Quote from Ray

Debra: [o.s.] Oh, come on! [comes downstairs] They're doing it again!
Ray: What? Oh, my God. It's like spring break up there.
