‘The Triangle’

Season 4, Episode 15 -  Aired January 23, 1986

Diane concocts a plan to cheer Frasier up by having Sam pretend to be depressed.

Quote from Diane

Sam: All right, all right. I'll just build a fire.
Diane: If you like.
Sam: Yeah. Then go over to the bed, and I'll start nibbling on your ear. Yeah. You always used to love that.
Diane: Oh, yeah.
Sam: What do you mean, "Oh, yeah"?
Diane: Oh, nothing.
Sam: No, no, no. Come on, what do you mean?
Diane: Well, I don't suppose it would do any harm to tell you. As long as we're on the subject, I never particularly cared for that.
Sam: The ear nibbles? Well, you sure seemed to.
Diane: I didn't want to upset you, male pride and all that.

Quote from Sam

Frasier: You've admitted that you love Diane. To get rid of your depression, you'll have to admit it to her. Sam, you must tell her that you love her.
Sam: Come on, man, don't make me say that. Don't-- Come on.
Frasier: Well, why not?
Sam: Because I don't- Because I don't want to.
Frasier: Come on, man. Tell Diane you love her. Let some fresh air and sunlight in there.
Sam: Frasier?
Frasier: What, Sam?
Sam: I don't like guys touching my head.
Frasier: Well, there's our next session.
