‘Fascinatin' Debra’

Season 1, Episode 21 -  Aired March 17, 1997

When a radio psychologist comes to interview Debra, the doctor ends up being more interested in Ray's family.

Quote from Debra

Ray: Look, maybe if you'd been yourself Dr. Nora would've been more interested. Why'd did you go put on a big act for?
Debra: Because I am boring. There's, you know, nothing about me that's you know like quirky or funny or interesting. [notices Ray is licking a bowl] What are you doing?
Ray: There's a little left in there. I'm sorry.
Debra: No. See that's exactly my problem. I don't do that.
Ray: Do what?
Debra: Lick the bowl! I mean, that's the kind of great weird stuff you freaking guys do all the time.

Quote from Debra

Debra: Ally, want some chocolate milk?
[After Ally nods, Debra adds chocolate syrup to Ally's glass of milk. Ally takes her hot dog out of the bun and uses it to stir the milk]
Debra: Ally how did you think of that?
Ally: It's easy.
Debra: Guess you just have to be a blood relative.

Quote from Robert

Robert: So, Debra, hi.
Debra: Hi.
Robert: Oh, look, you're wearing slippers and socks at the same time. That is so unique and different.
Debra: Okay. All right you can all stop now.

Quote from Ray

Debra: Guess what, Ray? Your family came over to convince me that I am fascinating.
Ray: What do you mean? All at once? Not one at a time, which would be the smart, subtle way?
Debra: You know, when you're feeling really bad about yourself, there's nothing to make you feel better than being patronized. Thank you, Ray.
Ray: You're welcome.

Quote from Ray

Debra: You don't know what it's like to go through your whole life just normal.
Ray: You don't get it. You've got to be normal. I mean, look at all of us. We need a normal one.
Debra: God, that's true.
Ray: That's why I married you. You know what? You are weird.
Debra: Oh, you're just saying that to be nice.
Ray: No. Listen. Why would any normal person put up with us for as long as you have?
Debra: I don't know.
Ray: That's right. I was born into this family. I'm stuck with them. But what kind of weirdo would choose to be one of us? There's something wrong with you.
Debra: You really think so? You think something's wrong with me?
Ray: Of course look at you. How could you explain this?
Debra: Yeah, I think you're right. I'm really weird.
Ray: You're weird. You're a sick, twisted individual.
