The Quote

Quote from Rose in Once, in St. Olaf

Rose: [raising the bed] Oh, you're up.
Martin: Rose?
Rose: While you were sleeping, I've been thinking, and there's something I really have to know. You said you chose God. How could you do that when it meant giving up your own child?
Martin: Rose, I never knew there was a child. It was only after you were living with the Lindstroms that I found out what happened to Ingrid. By then, I didn't want to interfere with your new life. I'm sorry.
Rose: You don't need to be sorry. In fact, I should thank you.
Martin: For what?
Rose: For giving me life. Oh, and it's been a great one. I mean, the Lindstroms were wonderful parents. I had a wonderful husband, I have beautiful children. And I owe it all to you.
Martin: I have grandchildren?
Rose: Yes. And I'll bet they'd love to know you.
Martin: Oh, my. So would I.
