‘Vive La Hecks’

Season 9, Episode 1 -  Aired October 3, 2017

After Axl returns from his trip around Europe with a man-bun and a new, relaxed European outlook on life, Mike wants to push him to get a job. Sue is determined to cram as many summer activities as she can into the next days before she returns to college. Meanwhile, Brick decides to break up with Cindy so he can enjoy his "big sophomore year", and Frankie searches for a family item she can put in the Orson time capsule so the Hecks will be remembered.

Quote from Sue

Sue: Mom, I am sorry, but I only have 47 minutes left of daylight in my summer, and I still have to write a letter to my future self, master the art of the flirty text, and lift a homeless person out of poverty. I am totally stressed out.

Quote from Axl

Axl: Typical American. You spent your whole summer chasing the almighty dollar instead of living life, and now you're full of bitter regret.
Mike: You could stand to chase a dollar or two yourself, man-bun.
Frankie: Mike.
Mike: Yeah? Oh, I forgot. I'm not allowed to talk about the big things that are going on in the house right now. I got to talk about the little crap that's happening 100 years from now!
Frankie: It's not crap, it's important.
Axl: Why don't you just put the TV in? There's nothing on it that passes for any kind of culture.

Quote from Brick

Brick: Oh, hey, Sean. You stopping by to wish me a happy sophomore year?
Sean: Uh, I wa... I wasn't, but sure. Congrats! Anyway, my mom sent me over to pick up your guys' time capsule.
Brick: Oh, um... [Brick looks at the snowglobe in the box and then closes the lid again] So, you miss being a sophomore?
Sean: Oh, yeah.
Brick: All right. Here you go.
Sean: Thanks, Brickster. Weird, huh? No one's gonna see what's in here for 100 years.
Brick: [chuckles] Bye.
[As Sean walks away, Brick looks both ways before quickly closing the door]
