‘Christmas Help’

Season 4, Episode 9 -  Aired December 5, 2012

As Christmas approaches, Frankie gets a job in a department store so she can buy presents with her employee discount. Mike helps his brother, Rusty (Norm Macdonald), move furniture, unaware Rusty doesn't actually own the items in question. Meanwhile, Reverend TimTom casts Brick in a nativity play and tasks Sue with baking cookies, while Axl moves into the garage.

Quote from Brick

Girl: So we shall take our son to Egypt and save him from Herod's wrath.
Brick: You didn't do that right. It's kind of a big moment, and you didn't sell it.
Mike: [to Frankie] Now he's a director.

Quote from Brick

Wiseman #1: I bring you gold.
[Brick is distracted playing with the box he's holding]
Frankie: Brick!
Wiseman #1: I bring you gold. [Frankie and Mike mouth to Brick] I bring you gold, he brings you frankincense, and he brings you myrrh!

Quote from Frankie

Frankie: [covering her eyes] What's he doing now
Mike: He's looking up. He's twirling his crown. Oh, he's eating a cookie.
Sue: One of mine?
Frankie: [v.o.] Well, sometimes people surprise you, and sometimes they don't. Sometimes, they act exactly the way you expect them to.
[The Hecks laugh as Brick sits down on stage in the middle of a song]
Mike: I guess we won't be moving to Hollywood anytime soon.
Frankie: No, I don't think so.

Quote from Brick

Frankie: Brick! Hey. So what happened? You seemed a little distracted up there.
Brick: Really?
Mike: Yeah. For the whole second half, you faced the back of the stage.
Brick: Well, I gave it a whack. [whispers] Whack. Whoop.

Quote from Axl

Brick: What is this?
Sue: Mom?
Axl: Is this a joke?
Frankie: Okay, those are from the JJ Macky Christmas mailer, and they represent presents to come.
Axl: A Camaro? Awesome!
Frankie: Turn it around.
Axl: A shirt?

Quote from Frankie

Frankie: [v.o.] So Mike and Rusty made up. It wasn't that hard, 'cause Rusty hadn't realized they were even in a fight. And I made up for Christmas day the day after Christmas, with 50% off plus my employee discount. Yep, the Heck family cleaned up. I think we may have a new family tradition.
