‘Back to Summer’

Season 2, Episode 24 -  Aired May 25, 2011

Frankie is excited for summer to begin until, one by one, problems appear for her kids in the final week of school. Brick is in once again in danger of not moving up a grade when he leaves it to the last minute to do a big school assignment for Ms. Rinsky (Doris Roberts). Meanwhile, Axl rushes to complete community service so he can graduate, while the school doesn't seem to recognize Sue's record of perfect attendance.

Quote from Frankie

Brick: [yawns] I'm tired. I'm going to bed.
Frankie: Unh-unh. No. You cannot go to bed. This is your fault. I bought a tiki torch. I was this close. If anyone needs sleep, it's me. I've got about an ounce of memory left in my head. You did this. You did this to me, and you know what? You're gonna pay. I am gonna make you pay.
Mike: Okay. All right. Mom needs a little break, little cooling down time.
Frankie: Mike, he did. He did it, Mike. This is his fault.
Mike: I know. Just little, teeny break. You'll feel better in the morning.

Quote from Mike

Mike: Okay, we got to keep moving. Where's our next drop-off?
Axl: Uh... 3105 Brook.
Mike: Brook Avenue or Brook Street?
Axl: I don't know. It just says Brook!
Mike: Well, you got to get these addresses right, Axl. We don't have time to be driving down every Brook in town.
Axl: Then why you slowing down?
Mike: I'm not slowing down. Aw, damn it! We're out of gas! [hits the dashboard] Great! Now the light comes on.

Quote from Frankie

Frankie: Hurry up. We're almost there.
Brick: I'm up to May 24th.
Frankie: Um, okay. Just say... Your great aunts...
Brick: That was yesterday, Mom. I can remember yesterday.
Frankie: Good, 'cause I can't.

Quote from Frankie

Frankie: [answers phone] Hello?
Mike: Frankie, we got six more meals to deliver, but we ran out of gas. I need you to come pick us up.
Frankie: Can't. We got to get to Rinsky's to drop off the notebook, 'cause she's only gonna be there till 3:00, and we can't be late for graduation. You got to figure it out.
Mike: Call me after Rinsky.
Frankie: It will be summer someday, right, Mike?
Mike: You had to buy the tiki torch.

Quote from Frankie

Mr. Sholin: Graduation from junior high is an important milestone. As you parents sit out there, I know your hearts are filled with mixed emotion.
Frankie: Oh. We made it. [laughs] We did it. We're here.
Mr. Sholin: It seems like just yesterday they were in kindergarten, and then last week, you turned in the forms to register them for high school.
Frankie: Forms? Oh, crap! You didn't happen to turn in the-
Mike: Seriously, you got to see somebody.

Quote from Mike

Sue: Yay!
Mike: Way to go, Barb!
Frankie: We love you, Barb Heckie!
Mike: Way to go, Barb!
Frankie: We love you, Barb!

Quote from Brick

Frankie: [sighs] We made it. 'Course we did.
Mike: We're Heckies.
Frankie: Hmm.
Sue: Wow. This must be what Hawaii is like.
Frankie: Yep. We've got the whole summer in front of us.
Brick: I'm bored.
