Season 2, Episode 1 -  Aired September 22, 2010

After the first day of school is a chaotic mess, Frankie tries to get ahead of things by being an involved and attentive parent. Unfortunately, Frankie's interference at school offends Brick's new teacher, Mrs. Rinsky (Doris Roberts).

Quote from Sue

Sue: For your information, Axl, I have the Fall Athletic Pep Rally tomorrow. Which I'm a part of. [chuckles] And am promoting today. Speaking of which, I made buttons for all of you.
Frankie: Wow. "Proud parent of a cross-country star."
Mike: That's a lot of glitter. I'll put mine on in the car.
Axl: Hey, where's Brick?
Frankie: Great. I finally get one kid up, now the other one's sleeping in. Sue, go get your brother up.
Sue: Brick, get up!

Quote from Sue

Sue: Mr. Rasmussen, is it a problem that I have to leave sixth period early because I'm a part of the Fall Athletic Pep Rally?
Mr. Rasmussen: Since this is first period, no.
Sue: Okay. Just checking.
Mr. Rasmussen: Do you wanna take off your sweatshirt? You look a little flushed.
Sue: Oh, my cross-country sweatshirt? No, I'm fine. I need to wear it to the Fall Athletic Pep Rally. Which I'm a part of.
Mr. Rasmussen: Okay. So on Page 24...
Sue: Mr. Rasmussen, do you need me to give you my cross-country schedule so you can schedule tests around my cross-country meets?
Mr. Rasmussen: No.
Sue: Oh, okay. Phew! [fans herself]

Quote from Frankie

Frankie: Hey, Brick. How was school?
Brick: Okay.
Frankie: Did Ms. Rinsky happen to move your desk back?
Brick: Are you worried about me?
Frankie: Well, I'm a mom. All moms worry about their kids.
Brick: Ms. Rinsky said my "mommy" came to see her and you were worried about me.
Frankie: Okay, we had a deal. She was not supposed to say anything to you.
Brick: Oh, my gosh. If you're worried, maybe I should be worried.
Frankie: No. Brick.
Brick: Should I be worried? Is there something wrong with me?
Frankie: [v.o.] Ow, ow, ow!
Brick: I guess this year just seems harder than usual. You know, the new backpack and everything. My old backpack always had my back. It's hard to go through it all alone.
Frankie: [v.o.] [groans] I ruined Brick. I took my happiest kid and made him miserable. I had to get that backpack back.

Quote from Axl

Frankie: Axl. Where's the trash? I need Brick's old backpack.
Axl: I took all the bags to the curb.
Frankie: What? You never take out the trash. Why would you start now?
Axl: Well, Dad told me to do what you say... and I'm Bob, and Bob's supposed to take out the trash.
Frankie: You're not Bob, Axl. You're Pete.
Axl: Gah! I'm three different people, and none of them make you happy.

Quote from Frankie

Frankie: [v.o.] All my getting ahead of it for nothing? Well, at least I knew for sure I helped Sue.
Announcer: [o.s.] And now your 2010 cross-country team. Let's hear it.
Frankie: [v.o.] Yep, Sue was happy because I'd gotten on top of it. She'd worn her new cross-country sweatshirt all week long.
[As Sue and the other members of the cross-country team walk into the gymnasium through a welcome banner, Sue passes out and falls to the ground. Her teammates trip over her]
Boy: [o.s.] Oh, man. Are they okay?

Quote from Frankie

Frankie: [v.o.] The truth is, once I gave up, it was a huge weight off my shoulders. Life got back to normal.
Frankie: Oh, my God. I've overslept. Is anybody up?
Brick: Nobody. And the bus driver's honking.
Frankie: Brick, go get everybody up. Never mind. I'll do it. Everybody get up!
Axl: Dude, no one set my alarm. I was supposed to write a paper this morning.
Frankie: Mike, run out to the bus and tell them to wait.
Mike: [groans]
