‘Blanche's Little Girl’
Season 3, Episode 14 - Aired January 2, 1988
Blanche is surprised when her daughter, Rebecca, arrives carrying a lot of extra weight, including a jerk of a boyfriend.
Quote from Sophia
Dorothy: Oh, Ma, I moved some of your things into my room.
Sophia: Why did you do that?
Dorothy: Blanche's daughter arrives today. You're gonna have to sleep with me.
Sophia: Let me respond to that the way your dates do. "No, thanks. I'll call you sometime."
Quote from Sophia
Blanche: Okay, girls, how do I look?
Rose: Oh, Blanche, you look beautiful.
Blanche: But do I look like a mother?
Sophia: Are you kidding? From the side, you look like you're about to drop twins.
Quote from Rose
Dorothy: Blanche, relax, honey. You look lovely.
Blanche: Well, it's just that I'm so nervous about seeing Becky after such a long time. You know, I want everything to be perfect.
Dorothy: It will be.
Blanche: But you know I haven't seen her in about four years, I don't know what to say to her.
Rose: Johnny Carson had that same problem the other night with F. Murray Abraham.
Quote from Sophia
Rose: So, Becky, what brings you to Miami?
Sophia: My guess is, a small barge.
Quote from Sophia
Rebecca: Mama.
Blanche: Rebecca. Oh! Honey. Honey. Let me get a look at you.
Sophia: This could take several hours.
Quote from Sophia
Blanche: Don't you leave, girls. I want my friends to share my happiness. My enormous happiness. Tell me all about Paris. Where'd you live? Where'd you work?
Sophia: Where'd you find jeans that size?
Quote from Blanche
Blanche: Well, honey, tell me. How's your modeling career been goin'?
Rebecca: Well, to be honest, Mama, not too well lately.
Blanche: What have you been doin'?
Rebecca: You mean besides eatin'?
Blanche: I didn't say that.
Rebecca: That's what you meant.
Quote from Blanche
Blanche: Well, you have filled out a little bit. But I don't want you to be upset, Becky. We can fix it. I'm gonna put you on a diet.
Rebecca: Mama, I don't want help. I'm happy just the way I am.
Blanche: Happy, baby? Look at yourself. How could you be happy?
Rebecca: You're the one that's not happy, Mama. You're doin' it again. You're tellin' me how to live.
Blanche: What do you mean?
Rebecca: Nothing's ever enough for you. It wasn't enough that I was pretty, I had to be the prettiest. Or that I was popular, I had to be the most popular. Or that I was bright, I had to be the brightest.
Blanche: That didn't mean you had to run out and become the fattest.
Quote from Blanche
Blanche: Well, we better go. We don't wanna miss anything.
Jeremy: Yeah, I wanna buy Becky a Dodger cap, see how many people mistake her for Tommy Lasorda.
Dorothy: That's it. That is it!
Blanche: Dorothy, now, calm down. We'll bring you back a cap, too.
Quote from Blanche
Jeremy: Didn't you hear me honking?
Rebecca: We were saying good-bye.
Jeremy: Well, hop to it. Kiss-kiss, hug-hug. We're outta here.
Rebecca: Mama, thanks for being so understanding about our wedding.
Blanche: That's me. Old, understandin' Mama.
Rebecca: It's simpler if Jeremy and I run off and do it ourselves.
Jeremy: That'll be the day when you run anywhere.
Blanche: Do you think you can be patient?
Jeremy: Look, I know things move kind of slow here at Sunnybrook Farm, but we have a plane to catch.
