Season 8, Episode 5 -  Aired November 18, 2020

Beverly causes trouble in Adam's relationship when she learns that Brea's mom is divorced. Meanwhile, newly-single Barry feels left out now that the JTP all have girlfriends.

Quote from Beverly

Adult Adam: [v.o.] And so Barry ran to his friends. But my mom couldn't run from how I really felt about my girlfriend.
Murray: Whatcha doing?
Beverly: Torturing myself. Adam writes that he will never love anyone as much as he loves Brea. [sighs] You think he means it?
Murray: Yeah, right now he does, sure.
Beverly: [sighs] Well, if he and Brea are in it for the long haul, we've got some awkward holidays ahead. I offended Vicki Bee.
Murray: Well, just call her and apologize.
Beverly: How? We have no phone.
Murray: [takes out phone] I missed having something to slam.
Beverly: Thanks. But this is probably something I should do in person.

Quote from Barry

Adult Adam: [v.o.] Sometimes we get so caught up in what's best for the people we love, we do crazy things.
Barry: Listen! I need to say something, but not to you guys. To them, the girlfriends.
Naked Rob: Yeah, Bar...
Barry: You three may not know it, but you are the luckiest ladies on the planet. All right, let me give you some advice. Cherish these men and all that make them unique. Like how irate Andy gets when you use his tiny back scrubber.
Andy: Do you mean my toothbrush?
Barry: Accept them as they are. Because if you don't... you'll lose them. And that's a terrible feeling.
Geoff: Um, Barry, these girls aren't their girlfriends.
Barry: What do you mean? [a trio of girls walk up] Okay. Who remembers what I just said?
Naked Rob: We all do. [laughs]
Barry: JTP.
All: JTP!

Quote from Beverly

Adult Adam: [v.o.] Yeah, there's lots of different ways to say you're sorry. But when it comes from the heart, that's all that matters.
Vicki Bee: Looking for Adam?
Beverly: You, actually. I want to apologize for everything. I have no right to judge you. I'm sorry.
Vicki Bee: Thanks.
Beverly: Look, I have a lot of big, sometimes-stupid ideas about what a traditional family is supposed to be. But you're a great mom. You couldn't raise a girl as amazing as Brea if you weren't.
Vicki Bee: Well, Adam's not too bad himself.
Beverly: My body made his body.
Vicki Bee: That's something someone says to another person.
Beverly: It's just, if our kids are gonna be in each other's lives, it would be nice if we could make it work, too.
Vicki Bee: For our kids, we'd both do anything. Come on in.
Adult Adam: [v.o.] That's the thing. No family is perfect. But it's our differences that make us unique.
Brea: This makes me nervous.
Adam: I'm terrified.
Adult Adam: [v.o.] And when you combine those differences with a whole lot of love, it goes a long way. [JTP cheer] In the end, that's what strengthens all the relationships in our lives, no matter what, 'cause when you got people who love and care and celebrate you, it's a hole in one.
