‘I, Done (Part 1)’

Season 6, Episode 23 -  Aired May 20, 1996

Will feels left behind as Hilary and Ashley prepare to move to New York, Carlton gets ready to leave for Princeton, and Geoffrey announces he's moving back to London.

Quote from Will

Geoffrey: Master William, any luck with your search?
Will: Man, I saw some of the nastiest places this city has to offer.
Geoffrey: Oh, well. You'll have better luck tomorrow.
Will: [scoffs] Suppose you right if I was gonna keep looking. G, what would you say if I said I think I may have made a mistake?
Geoffrey: The word "duh" comes to mind.
Will: Well, you know what? I know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna march right up to Uncle Phil and just tell him I lied. I mean, I'm a man, you know. I can admit to my mistakes. That's all it was, a mistake. Mistakes can be undone. You learn, you move on. So what? I mean, I can admit I was completely wrong and I can take my lumps. Lumps I earned. A man's lumps. Uncle Phil can relate to that. He a man, he lumpy.
Geoffrey: Well said.
Will: That's right. Look, I'm gonna march right up to Uncle Phil and I'm gonna say, "This man is staying in the pool house."
Geoffrey: Good show, Master William. And I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Quote from Philip

Philip: I'm home. Vivian, the birthday boy's here. Geoffrey? Carlton? Hilary? Ashley? Nicky? Anybody? [quietly] Will?

Quote from Geoffrey

Geoffrey: I have a little announcement to make myself. I have decided to move back to London to be near my son Frederick.
Philip: Geoffrey.
Geoffrey: Well, I thought about it long and hard. The time is right. He needs me.
Philip: Good luck, Geoffrey.
Geoffrey: Oh, thank you, sir.

Quote from Nicky

Ashley: Let's have another toast. To all of us going on with our new lives. And Will.
Philip: Hear, hear.
All: Hear, hear.
Nicky: Don't worry, Will, you can come to kindergarten with me.
Will: Waa, pssh.

Quote from Will

Will: Hey, hey, morning, Uncle Phil. Whoa, 50 and a day, man. How's it feel?
Philip: I'm not getting older, I'm just getting better.
Will: That's the same thing I'd say if I was on the downside of the hill.

Quote from Philip

Nicky: There he is. The oldest man in the world.
Philip: [growls]
[Nicky and his friend run screaming out of the house]
Philip: [to Will] I still got it.

Quote from Geoffrey

Carlton: Geoffrey, I've been thinking, with you going back to England there's going to be a big void in my life.
Geoffrey: Master Carlton, we'll write.
Carlton: Yeah, but that won't get my dry cleaning picked up. Chop-chop, Geoffrey. [exits]
Geoffrey: And to think I fished that boy out of the pool.

Quote from Hilary

Vivian: Geoffrey, we are really gonna miss your cooking.
Hilary: Oh, not to mention your cleaning. I'll never find anyone who can iron the way you do. [looks at Ashley]
Ashley: Don't even go there.

Quote from Will

Will: For your information, midget boy, I already got an apartment.
Vivian: You did?
Will: Well, yeah. You know, I was gonna surprise y'all, you know, but-
Philip: You're moving?
Will: Yeah, I'm moving.
Philip: Don't toy with my emotions, Will. I've been waiting a long time, I'm very vulnerable.
Will: Look, I said, I'm moving, Uncle Phil.
Nicky: The pool house is mine. Yes.

Quote from Will

Philip: Good morning, Will.
Will: Hey, what's up, Uncle Phil?
Philip: I hope you didn't misconstrue my enthusiasm over your leaving, last night. I'm really proud of you. [chuckles] In fact, I'm even a little envious. I mean, there's nothing more exciting than change. You know, I have a little story I'd like to tell you.
Will: When did the story fairy descend on this house? Um, look, Uncle Phil, can we do that later? You know, I gotta go check out a few things for my spot.
Philip: Oh, well, sure. Sure.
