‘My Scrubs’

Season 6, Episode 13 -  Aired March 15, 2007

J.D. and Turk try to game the system to treat Dr. Kelso's uninsured friend. The Janitor tries to blackmail Carla with the original Rowdy. Elliot tries to convince Dr. Cox that people can change when Mr. Thompson (Alexander Chaplin) returns to the hospital as a drug counselor. Meanwhile, Dr. Kelso changes the color of the scrubs to stop people stealing them.

Quote from Carla

Carla: [to the Janitor] You forced my hand.
Turk: Give it!
J.D.: How dare you steal our dog?
Carla: Sorry, you lose. Bye-bye. Oh, and you should still have someone to check your coffee before you drink it.
Janitor: Squid oil. That's one for you, Frank.

Quote from Dr. Kelso

Dr. Kelso: What the hell, people, I just saw Maggie Kent in the park. Why didn't we treat her?
Carla: She has no insurance.
Dr. Kelso: Then why didn't we do what we always do? Why didn't you fix it while I turn my back and pretend not to notice? You know the dance.
J.D.: We used to. But if you're gonna threaten to fire us over taking a pair of scrubs, why wouldn't we think you'd fire us for treating an uninsured patient?
Turk: Yeah, when, you took away the scrubs, you took away the trust, and without trust, everything falls apart.
J.D.: [v.o.] And just like that, we had our old scrubs back.

Quote from Dr. Cox

J.D.: [v.o.] Even though I was the only one who knew how to embrace life, we all left thinking about how important trust is. Dr. Cox let Elliot keep her trust in humankind a while longer.
Dr. Cox: I, um, I just wanted to apologize, Sam, for not believing in you.
Mr. Thompson: Thanks. [Elliot walks away] But why didn't you tell her?
Dr. Cox: 'cause this hospital will eventually make her just as cynical as everybody else in the dump. She doesn't need my help on that one. By the way, do me a favor, if you do use later, don't drive.
Mr. Thompson: I take the bus, dude.
Dr. Cox: Yeah.

Quote from J.D.

J.D.: [v.o.] Carla protected the trust that we have in her by coming clean.
Carla: Anyway, I should've told you guys, I lost him back then, but hopefully this will help you forgive me.
Turk: Wow! Look at those two standing next to each other, two beautiful dead dogs.
Carla: And now, at least you can both have one.
J.D.: I'm cool at keeping Steve. I mean, we've got to know each other quite well.
Turk: How are we supposed to know who's who?
J.D.: [feels Rowdy's underside] That's Steven. Don't ask me how I know that.

Quote from Dr. Kelso

J.D.: [v.o.] As for Dr. Kelso, he knew that trusting us again was probably foolish.
Todd: [carrying scrubs] Goodnight, sir.
J.D.: [v.o.] Still, it was worth it.
Maggie: You want half of my sandwich?
Dr. Kelso: Thank you Mrs. Suarez.
Maggie: It's Kent, Bob. Maggie-
Dr. Kelso: Shh.
