‘My New Role’

Season 8, Episode 7 -  Aired February 3, 2009

When Dr. Cox starts his first day as Chief of Medicine, everybody descends on him to ask for something. Carla is caught in the middle when she tries to improve relations between the nurses and doctors. Meanwhile, the Janitor pranks Dr. Cox, and Dr. Kelso tries to impart some wisdom from his time on the job.

Quote from Janitor

J.D.: [v.o.] It's scary how easy it is to become resigned to your lot in life. You just go about your business, same as always.
Janitor: Oh, I hear you're the new Personnel Director. Nice office. I just have to hang this.

Quote from Dr. Cox

J.D.: [v.o.] As for me, I was fine with my new lot in life. Because I knew the payoff would always outweigh the cost.
J.D.: Dr. Cox, look, I want to thank you for listening to me about Mr. Vaughn.
Dr. Cox: Yeah. Go to hell!
J.D.: [v.o.] Or not.

Quote from Ted

Carla: So I hope you don't mind my barging in.
Dr. Cox: You gotta be kidding me. In fact, Ted, go ahead and put Carla on the "Always Allowed In" list.
Ted: You got it.
[Ted is picking his feet]
Dr. Cox: Too comfortable, Ted.
Ted: Thanks, sir. I need boundaries.

Quote from Todd

Todd: My post-op patient is still going in and out of consciousness. You know what I'd like to go in and out of? Disrespecting-nurses five!
