Patrick: I didn't want it to affect what we have. Okay? And I mean it when I tell you that you have nothing to worry about. 'Cause no matter how hard I tried with her, it just never felt right. And up until recently, I didn't understand why. David, I've spent most of my life not knowing what right was supposed to feel like, and then I met you. And everything changed. You make me feel right, David.
David: That is quite possibly one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard anyone say. Um, outside of the "Downton Christmas Special".
Patrick: It's the truth.

David: Like they know about "us", right?
Patrick: Okay. Listen, David. I've have been wanting to tell them about us. I really have, I just was waiting to do it in person, and then I didn't go home for the holidays, and then I was feeling so comfortable with you, and your family.
David: Yeah. Yeah, I-I don't know why I assumed, um... So all this time, your parents thought they were just talking to your your business partner?
Patrick: Okay. David, I know my parents are good people, I just... [emotional exhale] Hmm, I can't shake this, this fear that there is a small chance that this could change everything. That they might see me differently, or treat me differently.
David: Uh-uh.
Patrick: But I'm gonna deal with this as soon as I see them next, okay?
David: Okay, what you're dealing with is very personal. And something you should only do on your terms. Okay? That's why I brought this couple home one day in college, and just told my parents to deal with it.

David: I almost didn't see you there through the mad rush of the Friday night dinner crowd.
Patrick: I'm just so relieved that I made a reservation.
David: Yes. Well, you look very nice.
Patrick: Oh, thanks. Well, you know, I assumed that the cafe would have a dinner jacket policy and I didn't wanna wear one of theirs.

Patrick: Well, there's something that, uh, that I've been meaning to tell you.
Marcy: You can tell us anything.
Clint: Honey, let's just let him talk.
Patrick: Uh, yeah. So I guess this doesn't really come naturally. Um... David-
Marcy: He seems like a really great partner, honey.
Clint: Marcy.
Marcy: In business.
Patrick: Yeah, he is. He's also a great partner outside of business. We're together. David is my boyfriend. And I've never been happier in my life. And so I just, I hope you guys can accept that.
Marcy: Ohh! You are the only thing in the world that matters to us. And if David makes you happy, then that's all we care about.
Patrick: Dad?
Clint: I like him. I like him a lot.
Patrick: Me too.
Clint: I don't understand his clothes, but... [all laugh]
Patrick: Ah, you will in time. Oh man, I didn't know how I was gonna tell you guys.
Marcy: Well, we're just glad you finally did. Happy birthday, my sweet boy.
Patrick: Thank you.

Patrick: So how long have they known?
David: I'm sorry?
Patrick: My parents. How long have they known? About us?
David: Um, I don't know, I don't know what you're talking about.
Patrick: David, I know my parents. They're not good actors. They knew about us, right?
David: Okay, my Dad might've told them, but he, he thought they knew.
Patrick: And the gift basket that you gave them - that I'm hoping you paid for - that had nothing to do with you trying to smooth things over with them?
David: It was just a very messy day. And I was- I was trying to detangle things, and... And just make everything okay.
Patrick: Yeah. Well, you made everything okay.

Patrick: Hey, here's an easy one. A brief description of the business.
David: Um well, it's-um, it's a general Store, but it's also a very specific store.
Patrick: Huh.
David: And it's also not just a store, it's like a place where people can come and get coffee, um, or drinks, but it's not a coffee shop, nor is it a bar.
Patrick: Okay, so we're pretty clear on what it's not.
David: Yeah, it's an environment. Um. And yes, we will be selling things, but it's more like more like a branded immersive experience.
Patrick: Right, I love the buzzwords, David, but I do need to put something down here.

David: Well, that was a fun night.
Patrick: I'm really glad that I decided to invest in your business, David.
David: That is really lovely thing to say.
Patrick: "And I'm so glad you did, Patrick, because you've really helped to turn it into the success that it is."
David: Hmm. A bold claim. [David kisses Patrick]
Patrick: Thank you.
David: For what?
Patrick: Um, I've never done that before with a guy.
David: Okay.
Patrick: Yeah. And uh, [chuckle], I was getting a little scared that I was gonna let you leave here without us having done that. So, uh, thank you for, um, making that happen for us.

David: What is that noise?
Patrick: I don't know. Maybe the sheets are a bit stiff.
David: No, it's like a, a crinkling sound.
Patrick: Oh, you're probably just sitting on the mattress tag.
David: [gasps] Is this a mattress protector?
Patrick: No. No, no, that's a... a second sheet that you put on the mattress, um, that my mom gave me when I moved in, so I just...
David: You put down a plastic sheet?
Patrick: Well, I don't think it's a pla... I mean, it might have like a rubberized coating, but I don't know.
David: Oh my God!
Patrick: Purely coincidental.

Patrick: Hey, let's talk about something else.
David: Sure, um... what's the thread count on this plastic?
Patrick: Okay, would it help if I were to share something private and embarrassing with you?
David: I might be too tired for that tonight.
Patrick: Ha ha! If we're gonna be married, I just think it's important that we be as open and honest with each other as we possibly can.
David: What is this sexy thing?
Patrick: Okay, I only put this in when you're not around. It's my mouth-guard.
David: Oh... well, there's nothing really embarrassing about that. Also, you look very beautiful.
Patrick: Aw, thank you. Um, hmm. How about... now?
David: My God!
Patrick: This is my nose thing, and it just helps me breathe better.
David: I have never been more attracted to you.
Patrick: Mm, same.
[They kiss and laugh]
David: Ooh! Ronnie's texting me a link to something?
Patrick: Okay, put it away, David. It's bedtime.

Patrick: David, I am happy with the life I've got. I'm happy with you. Things change.
David: Okay. You're a hundred percent sure you're not just saying you don't wanna have a kid, but, in actuality, you secretly do and are repressing that need... just for me?
Patrick: I don't wanna undermine the significance of this conversation, but I do wanna make it known that I was watching Bridget Jones's Baby right before I went under.
David: Okay, well that makes a little more sense then.
