After a hitman bearing an uncanny resemblance to Monk meets his own untimely end, Monk goes undercover as a contract killer.

Quote from Natalie

Adrian Monk: I'm not quitting. I'm in too far to quit now. Look, we're close. We have the who. All we need is the why. Right? Why do they want to kill the old guy?
Natalie: You know what, we're calling Dr. Bell.
Adrian Monk: Why?
Natalie: Because you're enjoying this way too much. I think you like scaring people. I think you've been so repressed and powerless for so many years, it's just gushing out of you. You are not yourself.
Adrian Monk: Or maybe you're meeting the real me for the first time.
Natalie: Mr. Monk, that was Harold Krenshaw you were pushing around this morning.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Lenny Barlowe: Uncle Jimmy's furious, okay? He says no more excuses. He wants the old man dead tonight. We're sick and tired of waiting for his funeral, you know?
Adrian Monk: Tonight, no. No, sorry. Tonight's no good. Here's the thing. I made other plans. I'm whacking somebody else in Pasadena later. I've already bought the bullet, so...
Lenny Barlowe: Jimmy said if you don't do it or you can't do it, then I get the gig. So what's it gonna be, you want the job or not? [Monk nods] Then let's get this done. We we're gonna have to go out through the basement. I saw some guy in the lobby. He didn't look right to me. I think he might be a cop. We'll take my car.
Adrian Monk: It's okay. You stay here. I'll take care of the old man. I'll whack him, I'll call you when it's over.
Lenny Barlowe: No, no, no. Jimmy wants me to go along. He insisted actually. Looks like we're gonna be a team.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Lenny Barlowe: What's the problem?
Adrian Monk: I don't like it. It's too quiet.
Lenny Barlowe: What do you mean it's too quiet? Quiet is a good thing. You want a parade? Come on, let's do this.
Adrian Monk: I just remembered. I forgot my gun. It's my lucky gun.
Lenny Barlowe: What do you need a gun for? It's supposed to look like an accident.
Adrian Monk: Right. Okay, I'll go in. You stay out here. You stay by the car. I need a lookout. You see somebody, you honk the horn.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Adrian Monk: Mr. Greenblatt? Hello? My name is Adrian Monk. I'm with the police. Mr. Greenblatt? Hello? Mr.
Greenblatt? My God.
Lenny Barlowe: He dead?
Adrian Monk: Heart attack.
Lenny Barlowe: Hey, you got lucky.

Quote from Adrian Monk

Captain Stottlemeyer: Hey, thanks for the card. I'll put it with my collection.
Natalie: Those are nice. From your boys?
Captain Stottlemeyer: Yep.
Adrian Monk: Two birthday cards from your sons.
Captain Stottlemeyer: That's right.
Adrian Monk: They both sent you a card.
Captain Stottlemeyer: That's right.
Adrian Monk: You have two children. So you got two cards.
Captain Stottlemeyer: You know, Monk, not saying anything is always an option.
Adrian Monk: Leland, when I was in Greenblatt's house, he had two birthday cards on his mantle. They both said, "Happy birthday, dad." There were two cards.
Natalie: What does that mean, two cards?

Quote from Adrian Monk

Agent Stone: You were right. I don't know how we missed it. Greenblatt's son, Alvin, the one who died last year, worked part time for one of Jimmy Barlowe's casinos.
Captain Stottlemeyer: They never found a body.
Agent Stone: That's right. He drowned near Catalina. There was no body. Okay, some one want to tell me what's going on?
Adrian Monk: Alvin Greenblatt is alive. We're thinking he stole some money from the casino and then faked his own death.
Agent Stone: He's alive? Are we sure about this?
Captain Stottlemeyer: He sent his dad a birthday card last week.
Adrian Monk: Lenny said that they were "tired of waiting for the old man's funeral." This wasn't about Stanley Greenblatt. It never was. It was about his son.
Lieutenant Disher: They've been looking for Alvin for a year.
Natalie: That's why they wanted Stanley dead. They were trying to lure his son out of hiding. They figured he wouldn't miss his father's funeral.
Agent Stone: So he's here?
Captain Stottlemeyer: I don't see Alvin. Hell, nobody's here. Why am I not surprised? I think we're too late.
Lieutenant Disher: Maybe they picked him up at the airport.
Captain Stottlemeyer: Great.
