‘Mr. Monk and the Blackout’

Monk investigates an explosion at a power station that knocked out the lights across the city.

Adrian Monk: How was your night?
Sharona: Not much better. I ate pizza with Benjy and saw the first 30 seconds of that TV special.
Adrian Monk: What special?
Sharona: The one with Willie nelson. Remember, we tried to watch it Monday night? I swear to God, somebody at that power company doesn't want me to see it.
Adrian Monk: The blackout was at 9:15. What kind of show starts at 9:15?
Sharona: I don't know. There was a movie on before it. Maybe it was just really long.
Adrian Monk: What are the odds of that?
Sharona: Adrian.
Adrian Monk: Two blackouts, three days apart at different times interrupting the same show?
Sharona: What are you doing?
Adrian Monk: You were right. Somebody doesn't want you to see that TV special. That's what this whole thing has been about.
Sharona: Willie Nelson?

Sharona: I want to watch it.
Adrian Monk: Sharona, it is so late. I've got to go to sleep. If I don't get my 45 minutes, I can't function.
Sharona: Since when do you function?

Gene Edelson: Monk? You can't hide from me forever.
Adrian Monk: I'm over here, Winston. Or am I over here? Be careful. Your left shoe lace is untied.
Gene Edelson: How did you know that? What's going on?
Adrian Monk: Boo.

Adrian Monk: Maybe I'm a ghost. [whistles]
[Gene moves the TV out of the way]
Adrian Monk: You can see me, can't you?
Gene Edelson: Yeah.
Adrian Monk: The lights are on, aren't they?
Gene Edelson: Yep.

Captain Stottlemeyer: Brenner!
Lieutenant Disher: Sharona, you okay?
Captain Stottlemeyer: Drop the knife.
Adrian Monk: Lieutenant, these are night-vision goggles. Turn the lights back off. I'll have the advantage. Turn them off!
Lieutenant Disher: Yeah, we could do that or we could just arrest him.
Adrian Monk: Okay. Yeah. All right. Just arrest him.

Michelle Rivas: Adrian?
Adrian Monk: Don't worry, I didn't come to ask you out again. I, I wanted you to have these a dozen roses. You deserve all 12.
Michelle Rivas: But they're all different.
Adrian Monk: They're your problem now. [both laugh]
Michelle Rivas: Ah, Adrian, you're such a sweet man. And whenever you work through whatever it is that you're working through, would you call me?
Adrian Monk: You mean you, you'd go out with me again?
Michelle Rivas: Sure. But only on the ground floor.
Adrian Monk: Huh.
Michelle Rivas: If I didn't have cooties, I'd kiss you right now.
Adrian Monk: If you didn't have cooties, I'd let you.
