‘The Three Days Rule’
Season 4, Episode 21 - Aired April 27, 2009
When Ted violates the "three day rule" by texting a girl he just met, he doesn't realize he's communicating with Barney and Marshall.
Quote from Ted
Ted: Guys, this is Holli.
Holli: Hi.
Ted: And I didn't wait your precious three days to call her. I knew where she worked, so I tracked her down. Let me ask you. Did I call you too soon?
Holli: I loved that he called me right away. I found it very romantic. And, by the way, I don't sit around my apartment reading architecture magazines in my old cheerleader uniform. I do that completely naked.
Ted: [chortles]
Quote from Robin
Marshall: Stan!
Stan: Hey, fellas.
Barney: Stan, aren't you working?
Stan: Took the night off.
Marshall: That's great! We can all hang out!
Barney: Yeah.
Stan: I can't. Got a date. [to Robin] You ready, baby?
Robin: Yeah.
Marshall: What the...? Wait, wait. Couldn't you guys just stay here and do your date with us?
Barney: Yeah, it'll be fun! Look, I'm laughing! It's fun here! You like magic?
Stan: Fellas, it's time we said good-bye. I mean, we shared a very special afternoon together, and that's something I will always cherish. I'll never forget you guys.
[as Stan and Robin walk out of MacLaren's together:]
Robin: Do you even know their names?
Stan: No idea. Is the tall one Ted?
Robin: No. That's Marshall. He's married to Lily.
Stan: Okay. You like chicken wings?
