‘I Hate Frasier Crane’

Season 1, Episode 4 -  Aired October 7, 1993

After Frasier is the subject of a scathing newspaper column, he takes to the air with a diatribe against the author, who wants to settle their differences with a fist fight.

Quote from Martin

Frasier: Dad, I am sorry if I embarrassed you for not fighting Billy Kriezel 30 years ago. But the situation is not the same now.
Martin: It's exactly the same.
Frasier: I am adult now. I have been to medical school. I hold a certain position in this city. I don't settle my differences with brawling.
Martin: The man challenged you, you accepted.
Frasier: Dad, I don't believe this. You won't be happy until I come home with a black eye.
Martin: I just want you to do what you said you were going to do. You know, you can talk about your medical school, your intellect, your place in this city. But you know what? It's all one big clarinet lesson. I can't even look at you.

Quote from Niles

Niles: Frasier, there's quite a crowd out there. Secretaries with bag lunches, children with balloons.
Frasier: All that's missing is a mariachi band.
Niles: They're setting up.

Quote from Niles

Niles: Frasier, as your brother and as your friend, why are you doing this?
Frasier: It's Billy Kriezel.
Niles: Where?
Frasier: He's not here, Niles.

Quote from Niles

[Niles is filing a fingernail]
Niles: What is it that makes us Crane boys such targets?
Frasier: Chalk it up to random violence.

Quote from Martin

Frasier: Dad, what are you doing here?
Martin: Look, son, I said a couple of things last night that maybe went over the line.
Frasier: Dad, if you are worried that you talked me into something that I wasn't ready to do, you're wrong. You can relax. l'm doing this for myself.
Martin: Good.
Frasier: So, who told you that I was going through with it, anyway?
Martin: Let's just say a father knows certain things about his son.

Quote from Daphne

Niles: Frasier, there's something I want you to see. There, the man standing to the left of the statue. I recognize him from the paper. That's Derek Mann.
Frasier: He's gigantic.
Daphne: My God, you could show a movie on his back.

Quote from Daphne

Martin: Now, you'll be fine. Just remember, this is a street fight, not a boxing match. So fight dirty and throw the first punch.
Daphne: I've found that a swift knee to the groin usually does the trick. If you have any doubts, check with a fellow in Manchester named Nigel Tavers.

Quote from Frasier

Frasier: Dad. Dad, did you see me? My hands are trembling. My chest is pounding, my mouth is all dry, my knees are like jelly. I feel great!
Martin: You did good.
Frasier: Yeah, I was out there. I was ready. You saw that, right? I was ready.
Martin: I know you were. You would have kicked his butt.
Daphne: From here to Tacoma.

Quote from Martin

Martin: Thanks, Harry. I owe you one.
Harry: No problem, Marty.
Martin: You cut it close, though, another minute and Frasier would have been eating sidewalk.

Quote from Niles

Martin: They got a Mariachi band out there.
Niles: Yes, I have to get their card. I need someone for our summer barbecue.
