After Chris and his family leave the projects for Bed-Stuy, he starts middle school in a predominantly white neighborhood.

Chris: Dad. Dad. Time to get up.
Julius: Is it 5 o'clock?
Chris: Yep.
Julius: It's not 4:59?
Chris: Nope.
Julius: Which job am I going to?
Chris: You're driving a truck.
Quote from Chris
Chris: [answers the phone] Hello?
Rochelle: Hey, baby. It's mommy. Is your father up?
Chris: Yep.
Rochelle: Good, good, good. Take his plate out of the refrigerator and put it in the oven for him.
Chris: What plate?
Rochelle: The one with the big piece of chicken.
[Chris drops the phone as he realizes what he's done. Meanwhile, Julius eats a chicken wing no bigger than his thumb]

Julius: Baby.
Rochelle: Don't baby me.
Julius: Come here. I'm sorry, okay?
Rochelle: Who told you to open the mail anyway?
Julius: Come here, pookie.
Rochelle: No, last time you said "Pookie", I got pregnant.
Julius: You my... You're always my pookie.
Rochelle: No pookie. Okay, little bit of pookie. [they kiss]
Julius: Love you.
Rochelle: I love you too.
