Chris needs help with algebra if Ms. Morello's class is to win a pizza party, so he turns to his grandmother, Maxine (Loretta Devine). Meanwhile, Drew breaks his dad's chair, and Julius gives Risky a job.

Adult Chris: [v.o.] My mother hated to ask my grandmother for help. So I knew I had a choice: learn or die.
Rochelle: Okay, 10N equals 40.
Chris: N equals four.
Rochelle: Good.
Maxine: Nine plus 9X equals nine.
Chris: X equals zero.
Rochelle: Okay. 144 equals minus 12 times X plus five.
Chris: Minus 17.
Rochelle: Oh! Good job, baby.
Maxine: 3N minus five equals negative-eight times six plus 5N.
Chris: N equals negative one.
Maxine: Ooh! Look like somebody gonna get some pizza!
Adult Chris: [v.o.] If all studying were rewarded with pizza, then Charles Barkley would've won a Nobel Prize.

Adult Chris: [v.o.] We waited for the results of the test. But I knew for sure that I had knocked it out of the park.
Ms. Morello: Chris, you got every single answer wrong.
Chris: What?!
Ms. Morello: Because of you, we don't get pizza. [children clamoring]
Chris: Ow.
Ms. Morello: Calm down, everybody!
Joey Caruso: Nice going, mud bone.
Chris: Wait, how could I get every single one wrong? There must be some mistake.
Ms. Morello: There was. Unfortunately, you made it. You answered question one on line two. Subsequently, all the answers that followed were wrong.
Adult Chris: [v.o.] Isn't that how Bush got elected?
Ms. Morello: If you hadn't done that, you would've scored 100. But you did, so you didn't.
Pizza Guy: This where the pizzas go?
Ms. Morello: [sighs]
